Meet Catherine Rahey

Catherine Rahey

Catherine Rahey is an Educational Consultant who specializes in Social and Emotional Learning, Autism, Neurodiversity, Mindfulness, Trauma Informed Strategies, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She teaches at Mount Saint Vincent University, part-time faculty, in the Education department and works as a private consultant for Mi’kmaw Kina‘matnewey. In her volunteer role, Catherine is currently the Vice -Chair of Autism Nova Scotia.

Throughout her 30 year career she has worked closely with a number of private agencies, government agencies, Royal Mounted Canadian Police, Fire Fighters, First Responders, School Boards, Administrators, Teachers, school professionals, para-professionals, private businesses, parents and government agencies in successfully delivering workshops in Autism, Mindfulness Programs, Individual Educational Program Plans, adaptations and modifications in an inclusive environment in Canada, the United States, New Zealand and Australia.

Catherine has received several awards in education for her work in Special Education, Inclusion, Autism, Learning Disabilities and Developmental Delays both in Canada and California, USA. She was the 2012 recipient of the provincial Autism Green Jacket Award for Distinguished Service to the Autism Community in Nova Scotia. She has presented at various provincial, national, and international conferences throughout North America and most recently at the 2019 International Conference on Mindfulness Asia Pacific 2019, Auckland, New Zealand. Catherine has co-authored a program: Yoga and Autism along with having published several articles on the topic of Mindfulness, Autism, Inclusion, etc. in educational journals throughout her career. She recently was the lead co-researcher on Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw Inclusive Education, Strengths, Challenges and Needs Program Review.
